Kevin Carroll is a Grammy-nominated musician, composer, arranger, author and educator based in Austin, Texas. Since making the ukulele the center of his musical life in 2012, he has taught thousands of students through private instruction, workshops, festivals, schools and ensemble programs.

Kevin is the founder and director of the Austin Ukestra, an instrumental ukulele ensemble devoted to adventurous, multi-part music. His arrangements draw from an unusually broad repertoire—including jazz, classical, blues, folk, rock and popular music—and reflect his belief that the ukulele is capable of far more than its familiar role as an accompaniment instrument. His teaching emphasizes musicianship: rhythm, technique, listening, ensemble awareness, musical interpretation and the skills that allow players to become more confident and expressive musicians.

A prolific arranger and curriculum creator, Kevin has written hundreds of solo and ensemble works for ukulele and developed classes and educational materials for players and teachers around the world. He is the author of five ukulele books, including his most recent, 30 Progressive Duets for Low-G Ukulele, published in 2025.

Whether working with a single student or a room full of players, Kevin brings decades of experience as a performer, composer and teacher to an approach that is practical, musical and deeply collaborative.
